“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
John 8:31-32 KJV.
Those who believe in Jesus Christ are his true disciples if they continue in his word.
The truth of God and of who he is can only be revealed to those who believe in him, who love him and obey his word.
To believe in the word of God, you have to read it and understand it, and it is only through the power of the Holy Spirit that we can understand the word of God.
Jesus Christ himself said to his disciples in John 16: 13 -24 that the Holy Spirit will guide them into all truth.
“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” (John 16:13-14 KJV).
When you read the word, you may not understand everything immediately, but next time you read the same chapter, you may experience a ‘light bulb moment’ where the Holy Spirit gives you some new revelations.
You can receive different revelations about a particular verse in the same chapter that you read before and did not seem to notice then, and they are always aligned. That is why we can not put the spirit of God in a box.
There is not only one single interpretation of the word of God to a verse or chapter in the Bible. The truth we know about God’s word is what makes us free.
When we know and understand the word of God, we are able to follow him without doubting, and we can come to him boldly with our concerns, knowing that he will not cast us out. He is a loving father, always ready to hear us and reveal himself more and more to us. He cares about us and for us.
Thank God for the power of his word and the gift of the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ. Amen!
