Following Jesus is not easy but it is worth it at the end.

He is our great example, our role model, that’s why Peter said in, 1Pt 2:21, “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps.”

Following Jesus Christ is not an easy journey that one can embark on willpower alone; we can only make it by his grace and by the power of the Holy Spirit. We can have all the determination, but without his grace, it will not work. Jesus Christ himself said it in John ch 15 vs 5, that without him, we can do nothing. We must abide in him in order to achieve success and bear good fruit.

Also, in John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” To get to the Father, we must acknowledge Jesus Christ, walk in the path he has laid down for us faithfully to the end, depending upon him always. Total dependence on God like a little baby depends on the mother for everything.

Total dependence does not mean sitting down and doing nothing because he also said in Luke 19, occupy till I come. “And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come”. (Luke 19:13 KJV). So God wants us to be busy while waiting and depending on him.

When Jesus Christ was on the earth, he was about his father’s business, so we must be too. He supplies all we need for the journey, be it food, clothing, good health, family, friends, and tools for the job. He supplies all with love and grace.

It is important to note that the road to following Jesus Christ is not always smooth. There are some rough patches, loopholes, thorns, mountains to climb, rivers and deserts to cross, and dangers to overcome. That is why Jesus himself said in Lk 9:23
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Following Jesus Christ is not a bed of roses. What is important is to focus on our final destination. When we think of the final outcome of walking faithfully with Jesus Christ, the eternal life and crown of gold/glory awaiting us at the end of the journey, we become more empowered to continue. It is important that we follow him sincerely and honestly without looking back.

God almighty loves, cares, protects and provdes for us, through his Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Trust him and worship him with all your heart, mind, and soul.

His grace will always be sufficient for us in Jesus mighty name. Amen. Shalom.
