What would have become of mankind if Jesus did not complete his mission of salvation for us on the cross of calvary?
The enemy, the devil thought he had won, but when he realized his mistake and failure, he started shouting through his agents for Jesus to come down from the cross.
He even tried to persuade him, saying, save yourself and come down from the cross. (Mark, 15:30).
When Jesus did not do as satan wanted, he became desperate and started mocking him through the chief priests and scribes.
“Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save. Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him”. (Mark 15:31-32 KJV).
Jesus Christ did not mind their mockery and persuasions but persisted despite his pain and his mission was accomplished. What a great Saviour, what a depth of love!
If Jesus Christ did not die, there would not have been resurrection from the dead and no resurrection means no salvation from our sins.
As Paul said, “If Jesus Christ was not raised from the dead, then our faith is in vain, and we will still remain in our sins”. (1Cor. 15: 17). Also, if our hope in Jesus Christ is only on this earth, then we would have been of all men most miserable. (1Cor. 15:19).
Today, we have the hope of eternal life because of this great sacrifice. Glory to God. Alleluia!
