“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God”.
Colossians 3:1 KJV
What does it really mean to seek those things which are above?
The things that are above in heaven where God dwells.
We read in Romans 14:17, that the kingdom of God is righteousness, joy and peace in the Holy Ghost.
This means we ought to seek and pursue a life of holiness, peace and joy in Christ Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 64:6, tells us, “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away”.
If our righteousness is like a filthy rag, how then do we seek to be righteous?
It it through the power and grace of God and the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross of calvary.
We are incapable of achieving a righteous life outside Jesus Christ.
As we study God’s Word daily, his holy word cleanses and transforms us to his divine nature.
When we seek God’s kingdom first and his righteousness, he promises to add all other things unto us.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”. (Matt 6:33 KJV).
May God almighty help us to live for him in holiness and in righteousness through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
