And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Deut 6:5.

Saying, I love God is not good enough. Love is an action word.

You can’t say you love someone and you are mean to them. You gossip and back bite against them, you steal from them, you murder them etc. That is not love.

The word of God said, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. John 3:16.

Think about it, God loved and he gave.

He did not just say, ‘I love you my children and you already know that’.

He saw his creatures languishing and perishing in sin, heading towards eternal damnation and he was moved with compassion and decided to send his one and only begotten son to die a horrible and humiliating death on the cross to save us.

Jesus himself said, If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 14:15.

He did not say, if you love me, that’s good enough, rather he said, if you love me, keep my commandments.

That is the only way to show God that we love him, it is by keeping his commandments.

That is by obeying his word, by doing what he said to do, by worshipping him in Spirit and in truth, by loving our neighbors, our fellow human beings as we love ourselves, by forgiving others.

That means we have to have a healthy love for ourselves before we can love others because you can’t give what you don’t have.

Some people are their own worst enemies. They hate themselves, they hate how they look, they hate one body part or the other, they are always criticizing themselves. That is not healthy at all, and such people are incapable of loving others, even those closest to them.

I pray for you today, May God almighty help you to cultivate genuine and healthy love for yourself, so that you can love others in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

If you truly and genuinely love someone, you will go out of your way to please them in anything that is not sin, whether it is convenient or not. That is called unconditional love, that’s what God has for us his children and that is what he expects from us.

Ask God for the grace to love genuinely, sincerely and unconditionally in Jesus mighty name. God bless you.
